About me…
Well, where to start…
I grew up in central Africa. Not generally a breeding ground for lefties but I somehow turned out that way.
In my late twenties, I emigrated to the UK, where I had a lovely life. Then the lovely life ended so I came back to Africa and now live in Cape Town.
Along the way, I’ve been a concubine …
(first husband was a divorcee, from a strict Catholic family. At our engagement party, my future sister-in-law sneered: “Of course, in god’s eyes, you’ll always be concubine, never wife.” I was delighted. I wasn’t sure about being much good at wifely stuff like making jam and tidying sock drawers but I figured I could be a great concubine!)
… a divorcee …
(first husband didn’t appreciate what a great concubine I was)
…a wonderfully indulged wife …
(second husband did appreciate what a great concubine I was)
…and a widow. That’s a toughie that I struggle with.
I’ve muddled around in journalism, PR and marketing.
I got burned out by deadlines and corporate crap and started teaching Pilates, which is really cool.
And now I’m writing again…
Or is it rambling?
Either way, I hope I raise a smile or two.
I hope you like what I do.
